The propane alarm went off in the night. I turned the tanks off and hooked up the hose to the port tank and that seemed to clear it. Then the CO alarm went off. I turned on the blower and opened the ports. It stopped but then went off again and again. From 2:30 to 5:00 am I was afraid to go to sleep so I cleaned up the boat a bit and packed some of my stuff. I noticed another boat was beeping and it was very still air, so I think its coming from outside. I went back to sleep.
Cleaned up the boat a bit and went for a walk along the walking/bike trail into Nanaimo. Kids playing on the beach, very scenic, saw a bicycle that had been brought up from the seafloor. Covered with barnacles. Lots of art and a bandstand. Pirate statue of a previous mayor. Float plane terminal. A tidal flat made into a saltwater swimming beach with terraced pools. A frame.
Jim came down to the boat at 1:00 and we sailed out to dump the tanks. Toured a wreck and got diesel. Shopping for bleach, laundry detergent for the head and coban. Jim flushed the water tank with fresh water and added bleach. So I will stay with them tonight.
I drilled a hole and relocated the kill switch so Jim doesn't have to open the lazerette to kill the engine.
Rosemarie joined us for dinner. We walked downtown to Modern Grill and ate on the patio. Sailor ate most of my rice that came with the saffron salmon. Wonderful meal and not bad atmosphere. On the walk back we passed near both Jim and Rosemarie's old offices. A man was playing the piano outside the library. Indians were carving hummingbirds and fish. Guitar cases open for coins.
At Jim's we watched in horror the footage of the tailing pond dam breaking spilling toxins into the river that salmon will soon spawn in.

Last day of trip.
Tomatoe surprise recipe
In a frying pan with butter, place a slice of bread with a yolk size hole missing from the center. Heat till egg is solid and flip. Place tomatoe slices and cheese on top. Fry half a tomatoe dipped in corn meal along side the bread center.
Took a long walk on Jedediah Island. Checked out the old homestead and orchard. Ran with Sailor then all around the lower trails. Jim took Sailor back to the boat while I climbed to the top. There's a logbook and a geocache in PVC tubes. Back on the beach, I waved at a dinghy to let Jim know to come get me.
Tunafish sandwiches for lunch. Watched an eagle soaring above the top I just climbed then he swooped down across the bow to the other rock and chased an otter off his catch. Wow!
3:30p anchor away Codfish Bay
7:15p tied to the dock at Nanaimo Yacht Club
Long rowboats are chanting back and forth. Jim headed home and I am staying aboard. The light is beautiful. A heron just landed on the dock beside me.
